THAT CHILD GOT TALENT ENTERTAINMENT IN ASSOCIATION WITH SEEDBOX DIGITAL ANNOUNCES
NEW ENGLAND CELL PHONE FILM FESTIVAL FOR YOUNG FILM MAKERS AGED 15 – 24
Boston, Massachusetts – (July 21, 2020) To engage the New England community and expose young filmmakers to the possibilities in film, The New England Cell Phone Film Festival, presented by That Child Got Talent Entertainment and in association with Seedbox Digital, has been created to showcase, nurture, and support the emerging creative filmmakers aged 15 – 24that use the latest technology available from a mobile device (Smartphones ONLY) to create stories in a cinematic way.
The deadline to submit is Monday, August 3rd and all finalists will be showcased in a virtual experience on YouTube Live! The festival will consist of 3 categories: Feature, Short and Rapid Fire – with a cash prize for each category. The caveat being that filmmakers must stay within the genres of Narrative, Documentary and Music/Dance Video.

In addition to working on a documentary-in-progress about the (safe performance venues for African Americans during Jim Crow), Williams Scott is helping students from Emerson and UMass Boston and put together the first-ever New England Cell Phone Film Festival for young people ages 15-24. With films due August 23, the mission is to nurture future filmmakers and give them something to do over the summer. But it’s also in recognition of videos like the one 17-year-old Darnella Frazier shot of Minneapolis police officers kneeling on George Floyd’s neck. “Darnella had no idea she was going to shoot a film that changed the world,” says Williams Scott. “I was proud of that girl… she didn’t realize she did it but do you realize she did it?”
